The Religion of Anime

The concepts established in the previous three pages should make it obvious that anime is a false religion of idol worship dominated by demonic powers. The industry around anime and manga is worth billions of dollars, and has spread worldwide to gather together many millions of faithful adherents. Drawing comparisons between pagan religions and modern anime would seem ridiculous if they were made during the early years of anime in the fifties and sixties. Now, however, the fruits born by the world of anime have come in full, and have manifested themselves in circumstances such as this:

Take a moment to remember the definitions of "worship" on the first idolatry page in this case as well, the ones about how extreme and submissive love is idolatry. This man has fallen in love with an idol and now has enslaved himself to an inanimate object that he has assigned personality traits to. This is common behavior among the anime community with so-called "waifus", which are female anime characters that anime fans say they would like to marry if they were real. They might not all go as far as having a public wedding ceremony with a life-sized idol of their doll-eyed waifu, but obsessive dedication to certain characters is a normality in the anime community.

However, in extreme cases like this, it's common for people who aren't within the anime community to point and laugh dismissively, all the while they themselves are enslaved to idolatry as well. As covered on page two, those who obsessively worship sports and movie stars are idolaters, no different than this man who worships a completely fictional woman to the point of marrying her is an idolater. All these groups need to be washed of their idolatry by the only One who has the power to forgive any and all sins - the Lord Jesus Christ:

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Acts 2:38

Anime and manga have inspired millions to dedicate their time and energy to the worship of fictional characters by spending money on products related to them, creating fan art and fan stories related to them, dressing up as them, talking about them, role-playing as them, and imagining them in their heads. All of this amounts to a large amount of spiritual effort dedicated to these fictional idols that mirrors the dedication pagans had to their false gods of old:

There are literal anime idol altars being sold by a company that straight out mentions that they are for worshiping anime characters in the same way that people worship the false Shinto gods (known as kami). That should drive home the point.

Every sin that ancient man fell prey to is still around, but the devil and his angels have simply dressed them up in new, shinier packages. In the days of heathen idolatry, Satan inspired man to carve images and statues to worship, serve, and pray to as their gods. However, God Almighty pointed out that these idols are foolish and worthless gods because they can't even move by themselves:

"Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages were heavy loaden; they are a burden to the weary beast.

They stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are gone into captivity."

Isaiah 46:1-2

God Almighty pointed out that these idols are foolish and worthless gods because they can't even speak for themselves:

"They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.

They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good."

Jeremiah 10:4-5

God Almighty pointed out that these idols are foolish and worthless gods because they can't even see, hear, smell, or touch anything:

"Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men's hands.

They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:

They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:

They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.

They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them."

Psalms 115:4-8

The devil in all his evil cunning realized that God was absolutely right—these idols aren't good enough. He has to do better than hunks of wood and stone—or at least, convince people that they are more than hunks of wood and stone. Modern technology has allowed Satan to advance his idols in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries to become much more acceptable. Thus enters the animated idols of Japan that seemingly can walk, talk, see, hear, and do so much more all on your television and computer screen:

This is all a satanic illusion, however—modern Japanese idols like Goku and Naruto are no different than ancient Babylonian idols like Bel and Nebo. Just as Bel and Nebo needed oxen to make them move, so do Goku and Naruto need the pen of an animator to make them move. Just as Bel and Nebo needed priests to talk for them, so do Goku and Naruto need voice actors to talk for them. 

Behind all the beautiful animated frames of anime, these characters are nothing more than pixels on a screen or ink on a page arranged to look like people. Yet just as the pagans of old, anime fans adorn themselves with tattoos showing their dedication to their favorite false anime idols:

Just as the pagans of old, anime fans line the walls of their houses with plastic idols that they worship, especially in a sexually perverted fashion:

Just as the pagans of old, anime fans dress up as their false gods and goddesses in order to celebrate them and become like them:

Just as the pagans of old, anime fans obsess over the lore and story around their false idols and even create their own legends about them:

And just as the pagans of old, anime fans are left spiritually empty and in total darkness. This is because their modern Japanese gods and goddesses like Jotaro Kujo and Mikasa Ackerman are just as false as the ancient Japanese gods and goddesses like Izanagi and Amaterasu. Anime fans are dead in their sins because they worship dead gods made out of ink and pixels rather than the one true living God of Heaven:

"But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,

Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:"

Ephesians 2:4-6

No matter how much one idolizes Ichigo and his power, or worships Ochaco as their heroine, they can never save them:

All the time and energy modern people spend on thinking about anime characters like these all comes to nothing, just as all the time and energy ancient people spent on false idols all came to nothing. Because they are false saviors, they cannot save anyone who worships them from death. There is only one Saviour of mankind, and it isn't Goku or Sailor Moon. It's the Lord of lords, and King of kings, Jesus Christ:

"But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,

Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;

That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

Titus 3:4-7

There is only death in false anime idols, and I know this from my own personal experience. There is only life in Jesus Christ, and I know this because I experienced the grace of God when He saved me. I pray for any anime fans reading this to turn to Jesus for true salvation and deliverance from this dead anime religion. The terrible trinity of anime, manga, and hentai leads into a spiral of death in all who falsely follow them. However, Jesus Christ came from heaven as a man born of a virgin to bear our sins on the cross and believing on the Son of God leads to eternal life for all who rightly follow Him.

Pray like this:

God, I pray to you now as a sinner in need of forgiveness. I know I need your Son, Jesus Christ, to save me. I deserve to be punished for my sins, but Jesus took that punishment for me. I believe on Him and I want Him to be my Saviour. Thank you for hearing me, God. Amen.

If you were sincere in your prayer to God, then He will hear you and give you eternal life; and you will receive the Spirit of God, which is called the Holy Ghost.
